Alright I understand what your thinking is here. fx-6300 Six cores Ill be gaming like a boss.... Well let me tell you a short story

>Bought fx-9590 -> thinking hell yea 8 cores 5.0Ghz turbo speed, ill be blazing around...... .

>after 6 months of extremely hot CPU(i knew that going in but didnt know it would literally make me sweat)

>bought i5-6600k ddr4 z170a for $20 more than my fx-9590 (and mobo and ram)

reasons why I switched ->

  • HEAT , HEAT , HEAT
  • although it worked great , somethings every once in a while would cause a hang
  • found out that amd test their video cards with Intel proc, that says alot it shows even the GPU maker realizes that their CPU is not the best .
  • the fx series has been around for almost 5 years making its architecture pretty old.
  • the fx line does not have onboard video meaning either get a video card or mobo with onboard video(not the easiest to find, and dont expect to game on it)

Thats my 2 cents(US)

CPUIntel i5-6600k - Mobo - MSI Z170A M3 Gaming - RAM - 16GB G.SKILL DDR4 2133 -  GPU - MSI R9 380 4GB

Hmm okay but the motherboard will work okay with either cpu right?

No. AMD and Intel CPUs are VERY different. Intel uses pads and and uses pins. The motherboards are not capable at all. The i3 6300 uses socket LGA 1151 while while the FX 6300 uses AM3+.

There may be in Intel Skylake version of the board, though.
