So I've just watched every one of gopher's videos on the subject, and I'm done cleaning all the DLC's as well as the update file. Now, since I had to click on both the file I wanted to clean as well as skyrim.esm and update.esm, I'm wondering how do I go about cleaning mods? Do I click on other mods or does TES5edit automatically 'sees' which mods depend on each other?

thx!

Personally, I don't clean specific mods unless I'm directed to do so by the mod author or the modding community at large. There are some mods that contain dirty edits, but cleaning them breaks the mod.

Just cleaning the main game, update and dlc's is about all the cleaning I do, and my game very rarely ever bugs out, despite running over 300 mods on a laptop.

lucky mofo, I've got some shit going on in dawnstar, I cannot enter Dawnstar cell at all, I need to get in with COC. Then when I'm in if I want to get out I need to COC again, otherwise the game crashes again.

Sounds like a messed up save file. Have you tried entering the area on a brand new save?

Having a save file where you installed and uninstalled a lot of mods in the same playthrough can be devastating. Generally, the only mods I feel safe upgrading, removing or altering within one save are texture and mesh overhauls.

At the time, that's when I realized Dawnstars was off the hooks, I barely had any mods going. Now I've got quite a few let's say.

I happened to remove frostfall not that long ago, hasn't had a crash since. Guess that means frostfall is quite heavy in scripts and plugins, right?

It is indeed; removing it may have had some unintended consequences.

Try using the save game script cleaner: http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/52363/?

If that doesn't work, you might just need to say goodbye to that save file - but if you want to save the memory of that character, use Familiar Faces: http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/54509/?

Well well, seems my issue with dawnstar (kept fking freezing each time I went there, had to COC in and out of that place) is solve as well as my 15 minutes a crashissue. I've played something like five hours today and only had a single CTD, great stuff indeed.

Watch the videos on the tes5Edit nexus page, and some really good tesedit tips in the videos on the merge plugin page too(IMO for the sort of mods I use a lot of).  Some error should be cleaned regardless of whether the mod needs the dirty edits or not as they either can corrupt your game or are flatout crap practices.

That said cleaning now is not likely going to fix your current character.  Have you gone somewhere else in skyrim (a distant interior cell) and tried waiting for 30 in game days?  Sometimes shit just needs to reset, worked for me 3 or 4 times.

I generally jump around in Tesedit and take a look after "apply filter for cleaning" and pick and choose which "problems" I want to keep, or which conflicting records I want to delete.

Well eitherhte 30 days reset hapened or removing frostfall and cleaning reference deletion with tes5edit fixed it, gamed five hours this afternoon, only had one CTD
