SAS-Backplane possible?

Backplane

Hello,

so I got a chenbro sr107 very cheap and I want to upgrade the drive cages (to hot swap). There are ones with sata and mini sas connector on the back.

So if I get the one with mini sas and a cable mini-sas to 4x sata can I connect it to a mainboard? It would be pretty cheap instead of the sata ones (20 with cable vs 80€)

I've read already something about the sas cables so ocr would be the right one I guess?

Thanks for the help

Yes that will work fine, just don't use actual SAS disks but I'm fairly sure you don't want to. The SAS connector is cross compatible with SATA disks and SFF-8087 to SATA cables are very common, check their price first before buying though as these cables aren't always cheap.

Make sure you get a Reverse SAS to SATA cable, not a normal SAS to SATA breakout one...otherwise it won't work.
