Something like iMessage on Android

I currently have an iPhone 4 but his has no data plan (ie. Verizon, Sprint, AT&T, etc.)(but it has a SIM card) and so I use iMessage so right now it's basically an iPod Touch. I like Android better and I was wondering if I could possibly text people with Android with no data plan. Let me know if you have any questions, thank you.

Well you can't use SMS so you have to use something like iMessage which is online based (uses wifi/data).

Hangouts is good if the people you text also use Hangouts. Even if they're iPhone users you can try to convince them to download it so that you can still talk to them.

Whats App and the ol' BlackBerry Messenger should both work fine. If you can get anyone to download and use BBM, you deserve a prize. It's awesome, just nobody thinks of it anymore.
