Nas Server with unraid

Hi LTT community 

 

I am very new to the community but i need some help seeing if it will work ?

 

I have a server / nas that i built with the intention to allow my friends to stream from it via an app on android and IOS called tonido.

 

A few of my friends have said that the app won't allow to stream via localcast on android or via airplay on IOS but it used to work via a simlar method which was a dlink nas drive as the data and my main pc as the server.

 

a friend has mentioned unraid by limetech to use as a nas drive but i am not sure the best program to use as the media server and i know you can get plex but i don't want to my friends to pay out as i know the server is free but the app is not.

 

Can anyone help me please ?

 

Server spec

 

AMD FX4130

8GB Ram over 4 x 2GB

7 X HDD - 1 x WD Red 3tb, 1 x WD Green 2tb, 2 x WD Green 1tb, 2 x Seagate 1tb and 1 Samsung 1tb

1 x Cruical M500 240gb ssd for windows 10 pro

The app costs like 5 dollars...

 

Do you mean os with 'to use as a nas drive'?

You could use something like freenas or nas4free.
