I sided with the institute so obvisouly the brother hood of steel hate me Can I still do the quest 'the lost patrol'? I put of the quest and I want to clear it from the quests tray!

There's a certain point in each faction's quest lines that you can reach before you get a warning, stating that completing/going further with the quest line that it will lock you in with that faction.

If you've gotten the warning, and carried on with the Institute, then you can't quest with the Brotherhood any more.

 

If you really wanna do that quest, load a save file from before you ventured past the point of no return with the Institute, then you can do that quest. Otherwise, you've just gotta put up with not being able to do it.

You can "help" them if you had just sided with them. You dun goof'd and went too far with another faction, which causes the Brotherhood to hate you. There's not much you can do about it now tbh.

if you progress too far into a fraction's missions there is no turning back. Side with the brotherhood, the railroad hates you. Side with the railroad, the institute hates you. You already know what siding with the institute does lol.

 

However...(some minor spoilers)

It appears there was some story cut from the main game where all fractions can survive in the end. The Institute still banishes you but the you can still talk to the BoS and the railroad. Parts of the dialogue and mission briefings still exist in the final release of the game which proves it was a thing at one point in development but it is tricky to get that ending. It requires doing missions in a specific order. You can google "best possible ending in Fallout 4" and it should pop up within the first couple results.

 

Hopefully they release a update where the above becomes an actual thing w/o jumping through all the hoops. I attempted it but got annoyed making sure I didn't screw up so I said F* it.  I think it's stupid you have all these fractions/options and no matter how well you play it, you currently can't get a 'perfect' ending.

No matter what, a fraction will hate you or be destroyed in the end. The only constant is the minutemen and their damned settlements constantly under attack >_>

 

Side note: The first DLC is pretty fun. I love making me robots :3

I'm going to `kill Preston when I get home and finish the main questline for MM ._.
