So I tried to copy some files to my new USB drive and suddenly it's telling me it can't write to the drive because it's write protected. I don't know how this happened or how to remove it.

Where did you buy it from? Not from Ebay by any chance, some are fake and aren't actually their advertised storage.

I bought it from Amazon being sold by BestBuy so I'm pretty sure it's not a knock off.
