Hi guys,

I'm having an issue with my GTX 960; a few game ready driver updates ago, the fans on my card suddenly rev up and down for no apparent reason. I've tried using MSI afterburner, Precision X, and OC Guru II with no luck. Attempted clean install of drivers and utilities (Uninstall manually and downloaded/installed new drivers) with still no luck. I hardly think it's a hardware issue, as when no drivers are installed, the fans don't display the previously mentioned behavior.
Any advice?

have you tried installing older nvidia drivers? like the 362.xx or 361.xx

-sigh- feeling like I'm being too negative lately

Sorry, I'll remember that in the future.
I'll attempt this and see what happens. Thank you

Interesting note.. the problem stops if I run a stress-test on the GPU; while the GPU is under load, the fans stop revving...

Most likely, the "0db" function is misconfigured. I bios moded my card to try and add that feature, but the result was the same as yours: unpleasant.

Just keep the GPU busy 24/7 with something like Boinc or F@H (and help science as a bonus) and you'll forget about it.

if even manually changing it wont work, i suggest you send the card back in, its faulty o-o

but i think some card revs up only if the gpu hits 65 celcius... so if by any miracle that your card stays below 65 celcius while under load, that might be it lol
