Yeah. It says 3 hrs remaining.

I have a WD Caviar Black 2 TB that I purchased a month and a half ago and recently (last week) it has been clicking while idle. Is this normal for a caviar black or should I contact the manufacturer? Is this the type of HDD you guys would recommend for Data Storage that wont be used all the time in a PC?

What kind of clicking? Normal "I'm being accessed" clicking(from the arm moving around)?

The clicking is intermittent and happens at least 1 time every 30 seconds. Kind of like the head is trying to park but ins't. It is not being accessed when this is happening.

What kind of hard drive is this? What is the purpose of it?

He said it was a black 2tb :)

I know that. I'm asking about the purpose of it. Both questions basically are asking the same thing - at least from my standpoint.

Data storage. Holding old itunes content, documents and such.

Can you download/install CrystalDiskInfo to see if anything comes up? You may want to also download WD's Data Lifeguard to test the drive.

Side note: Make sure you're quoting people as I'm one of the few individuals that automatically follow threads they post in. If you don't quote people, they won't inherently see the response.

Update: CrystalDiskInfo says the health status of it is Good. Running full diagnostics in WD's Data Lifeguard atm.
