Ok before you ask "do you have all the correct cords plugged in?", the answer is yes. My gpu (gets 960) is lit up so I am getting power from my psu. I tried switching out the RAM. I tried the metal screwdriver method where you touch the two prongs on the motherboard to turn it on and even then it still won't work. My next option is to try a new cpu. And if that doesn't work, a new motherboard. I am honestly stumped. I could really use some help. Thank you!

What makes you say it won't turn on? No video, no leds, no fans, or what?

Sounds dumb, but some people think "no video, no pc"

Not saying you're wrong, but wouldn't my PC turn on even if I have a bad cup?

Think of the cpu as the brains of the computer, all processes run through the processor in order to be executed. So just say you hit the front button on your computer, the GPU, memory, HDD, and chipsets try to POST but hit a dead end when they reach the cpu, therefore nothing really happens. So i'm not saying in all cases, but most cases like this point to a dead cpu

well everyone is confident until someone pointed out their mistakes lol

well if you're sure you plugged it in correct then did you check if the switch on the wall and the back of the psu is turned on? what about your monitor?

if your monitor connected to your gpu? try removing your gpu and boot with onboard graphics

what happens when you short the power button pins, does your motherboard light up or it just didnt even do anything, did the cpu fan spin?

is it a new build or its a computer that suddenly died? new build might take a minute or two to configure its settings for your hardware

Try a different psu, power to some doesn't mean power to all.

Take out the battery for abit(reset the cmos)

take out the gpu and try it

I have been having problems recently after I installed a new psu but even then my PC booted up at least. I've had my PC in my corsair 750D for about 4 months. When I short the power buttons, nothing happens at all.

I had my tech friend FaceTime me and even he is stumped

And yes, my psu and wall outlet are working fine. That was the first thing I checked lol

I will try the onboard graphics

Try the cmos or updating the bios

How did you check the psu?

I just plugged in my old psu and that did nothing. My fans won't turn on, nothing. Now, it's either my cpu or my motherboard

what psu did you use?

If the fans aren't turning on, it's PSU or Motherboard. Bad CPU/GFX/Memory wouldn't keep the mobo from *trying* to turn on.

Sir, thank you very much that gave me hope lol. I was really not looking forward to buying a new processor!

I mean, not going to rule out that whatever fried didn't kill something else.. but the fans would turn if the mobo worked and the CPU didn't (Fans even ran on my borked mobo a bit ago, CPU was alright when I put it in something else).

Good luck.

Edit: The idea behind this is that the motherboard has immediate control of the fans so it can keep things from catching fire (not great...) but the cpu *can* take over once it's working.
