Avagromus

Hello everyone, I don't know where to post this so I will post this here. I was wondering if I can get any help to build a gaming PC under 500 USD. I really don't know where to start or what to get since I'm very new at building PC's and all that. I actually started to get interested into it after watching lots of videos on the Linus channel. Thanks everyone for their time.

In terms of performance intel is a better choice over AMD, because Intel has better per core performance. But here you are buying a gaming PC and your budget is around $500,  so i will recommend to spend around $100 in your CPU. At that price point i3, Fx 6300 & Fx 8300 ($110 at newegg) is available. If you are going with i3,  you will get better performance but it will restrict you to play some games. Because some games need at least 4 cores to start. So' if your not going to play different AAA titles & you are limited to play games like CS GO,.. etc than i3 is a better option because this kind of games don't use more than 2 cores, so you will see better result in i3 over AMD. Because intel has better per core performance. But if you are going to play different AAA titles than at that price point i will recommend you to go with AMD FX 6300 or Fx 8300. Because than you will not be restricted to play different games by no of cores.

And for storage i am going with SSHD ( hybrid drive ) it is not a HDD because it has 8gb flash memory ( or you can say SSD ) which will reduce your boot time. SSHD performs better than HDD but SSD is much better than SSHD & HDD. At that budget i will go with SSHD.Another option for storage drive is buy an HDD now and add an SSD later.

Intel i3 6100 : http://pcpartpicker.com/p/Qh73Vn

AMD Fx 8300 : http://pcpartpicker.com/p/MXkBsY   :

Note : If you can't get Fx 8300 at $110 than go with Fx6300, you don't need to change anything else.

By 'gaming pc' i would assume you would want a versatile gaming rig capable of running all games.I wouldn't bet for i3 with 380x to become the best of options.and with 170$ budget for the cpu intel is definitely the better choice.so i'd say you go for this which will give u high-ultra 1080p gaming:

Thanks everyone for their advise. I was already thinking in going for a core i5 since it has 4 cores and there are some games I will really want to play and I could wat some more and have some extra budget. I will see if any of my local stores have those parts available to start building. Thanks :D

Do you think that I could change that 950 for a 970 or 980?

Well u need to increase your budget then.you can go for a 970 with 295$ and get a 500w psu.for 980 u would need a 550-600w psu....but on a 500$ strict budget 950 is what you get best.
