Modding PSU conectors

Go to solution Solved by Appelzaadje,

been thinking about that however the cable;s are pretty ok and i can make them custom lenght etc no need imo to get new cables :) im just gona add some sata conectors and move them around a lil

thanx for the confermation that this wont dmg annything

Hey guy's,

Just wondering but why do all the psu manufactorers only put a max of 4 sata conectors on a cabel and place them so far apart. I would like to see like 6 sata conectors on a single cord with closer spacing. Is it wrong to mod these cable's to have more on a single cord? example in the link

Not really bad, however custom cabling like this needs experience and you need to have precautions in modding cables to not have any electrical accidents.

Seems pretty straight forward imo just curious to what it does to the 5th or 6th conector on the link will it recive enough power.

Most likely, SATA doesn't need that much power to be honest.

If PSU is a quality one then they all will get the same "power". Ive done a SATA power for R3 fit and now im on Prodigy and distance between the 2 HDDs dont match and need to use some old standard ones. Part is ive only did 2 connectors and not 6.

Mostly you need basic know-how, tools and measurments.

im planning to do 2 extra on 1 cable to make it 6 total but main point is i want them closer together to get a nicer cable route think an AX850 will be good enough to do this consistantly

If it was me i would make whole new cable with fixed lenght and sata connectors in place to perfectly fit in HDD/SSD locations.

Do measurments and look will they fit in existing one.
