Hello,

I have been using an old Mid 2010 Macbook Pro as a mobile "daily driver" for quite some, and has been a steady worker for the whole road.

However, with time the laptop has started to show it's age, and after a water spill over the laptop and many important keys having broken down, I have thought about getting a new laptop.

What I put in the upmost priority is stability and durability. As I already have a gaming setup back at home, all I need for a laptop is a somewhat recent laptop that had decent power/speed, but a laptop that would last for a very long time, rugged and durable. A long battery life that'll get me through the day would also be a great plus. Mobility and weight is also something to think about, but after carrying a laptop weighing a bit over 2kg, I think it would not be a priority to worry about, as long as it is not a gigantic laptop weighing a ton.

The current MacBook Pro I have fit the durable mark, lasting me 5-6 years before the breaking down that is happening right now, however no longer fits the speed, date, and battery requirement.

Due to this, I have thought of getting a ThinkPad, especially leaning towards the side of the T450, (Durable, somewhat recent, decent speed, good battery, especially after the large battery pack upgrade). However, more opinions and thoughts would be great, and so the question is; what would be a good laptop for the needs I have presented? For price, a budget up to 1300-1400$ would be great.

Thanks!

I would take a look at the ThinkPad Carbon X1, seems good.

Get a thinkpad with at least a i5 5300u/6300u. The T line up is really good, if you want something more slim look at the X line up. When Lenovo first announced the x1 carbon they dropped it from really high up to show how durable it is.

Before you buy amp and dac.  My thoughts on the M50x  Ultimate Ears Reference monitor review I might have a thing for audio...

My main Headphones and IEMs:  K612 pro, HD 25 and Ultimate Ears Reference Monitor, HD 580 with HD 600 grills

DAC and AMP: RME ADI 2 DAC

Speakers: Genelec 8040, System Audio SA205

Receiver: Denon AVR-1612

Desktop: R7 1700, GTX 1080  RX 580 8GB and other stuff

Laptop: ThinkPad P50: i7 6820HQ, M2000M. ThinkPad T420s: i7 2640M, NVS 4200M

Feel free to pm me if you have a question for me or quote me. If you want to hear what I have to say about something just tag me.
