I need help on Intel IPC over architecture (consumer platform) compared to skylake.

assuming it is static 3.5Ghz, 4Physical cores no HT or turbo and not thermally limited.

Skylake: 100%

BroadWell: 90-95% but slower encryption,

Haswell: 85-90%

IvyBridge: 80 - 85%

Sandy Bridge: 75 - 80%

Westmere: ?

Nehalem: ?

numbers taken from: http://www.pcper.com/reviews/Processors/Intel-Core-i7-6700K-Review-Skylake-First-Enthusiasts/Clock-Clock-Skylake-Broadwel

any figures for IPC on gaming?

Yeah, we're all just a bunch of idiots experiencing nothing more than the placebo effect.

Nehalem would probably stand somewhere around 40% and Westmere at 60%.

Because the jump from Nehalem and Westmare to Sandy Bridge was huge at the time.

EDIT: according to wiki article, Sandy Bridge brought about 11% improvement over Nehalem. Clock per clock.

In IPC, that probably would translate to 10-20%.
