Massive Packet Loss

Subduck

A mate was playing csgo recently and suddenly started getting packet loss anytime he tried to play the game. Other games are completely fine. He reinstalled csgo and windows and no luck. Restarting the router did nothing and he asked the ISP and they said that his line was operating at peak performance. He changed the network cable aswell and nothing. Constant packet loss of 60%. Help is appreciated. Any standard posts you find when you search the problem we have tried so please don't suggest them.

Your friend should call/contact technical support for his game. Most like the route his data is taking to the servers is a bad route. This isn't his ISP's fault, and it probably isn't the game studio's fault, but the game studio will have procedures they can follow to find out which router along the route is the issue and contact that ISP (what actually has to happen is your friend contacts the game studio, the game studio contacts their ISP, and their ISP either fixes the issue or contacts the backbone internet provider that is having the issue)

technically anyone can identify the issue using traceroute and tools called "Looking glass sites" that each ISP / backbone provider has available, but identifying the issue on your own before contacting the game studio doesn't make the problem go away any quicker - it makes you sound arrogant (I am saying this as someone who has been on both the user side and the Technical Support side of one of these calls)

Looking to buy GTX690, other multi-GPU cards, or single-slot graphics cards:
