Help

Hello, so I've been hearing that the i5 6600k doesn't support DDR3 but DDR3L and DDR4. But I've also heard that using DDR3 with the i5 6600k will slowly kill the CPU???

Read that hear: http://wccftech.com/skylake-does-not-support-ddr3-damage-ddr3l-only/

I'd really like the help! I'm currently building a PC and I need to know if I should use DDR3 or DDR4 (Gaming PC not Rendering)

Im pretty sure skylake only supports DDR4 as on the main motherboards DDR3 is not listed anywhere in compatibility. Also RAM is just storage. It cannot "slowly kill a CPU", thats just not how computers work (except in the case in overclocking, you technically are slowly killing it).

Gaming - Ryzen 5800X3D | 64GB 3200mhz  MSI 6900 XT Mini-ITX SFF Build

Home Server (Unraid OS) - Ryzen 2700x | 48GB 3200mhz |  EVGA 1060 6GB | 6TB SSD Cache [3x2TB] 66TB HDD [11x6TB]

Is DDR4 worth getting?

If you're getting a Skylake CPU, then you have to get DDR4.

Reading some articles on  Skylake CPU'S DDR3 long term can damage the CPU. DRR 3L will work on Skylake CPU it just finding board that can take it.
