H110i and led fans

So I'm planning on getting a h110i and I'd like to change the stock fans that come with it to a pair of Corsair SP140 led fans I have extra at home. Will the Corsair link fan controller software be able to control the led SP140 fans even though they are only 3 pin fans?

Yea I did a little research and it sounds like if I want to control the led fans I need to run them off the motherboard.

Well even if plug them in the motherboard if they're not PWM fans (4 pins) you want be able to control them
