Which option is better value for money?

Hi all,

currently I have a GIGABYTE G31M-S2L V2.0 and an E5200@4.0 Ghz. And I was wondering what would be a better option. Either

A: upgrade the current CPU to a core2quad or a core2extreme (QX6700). That would cost me around 30-50$ AUD

B: get a new motherboard and CPU (quad core) (LGA1150)

Which one would be a better choice?

cheers,

Also, what motherboard should I go for if I go to LGA1150?
