Help finding a good UPS

I wasn't able to find the one you linked on any reputable sites in Sweden, although I did find this:

http://www.apc.com/shop/se/sv/products/APC-Power-Saving-Back-UPS-ES-8-Outlet-550VA-230V-CEE-7-7/P-BE550G-GR

Which seems to be pretty much the same thing but a new generation/higher model perhaps?

Would that be a good choice?

That is just a slightly larger more powerful model but should be more than enough for the NAS and some other equipment if desired. Both do also have the USB connectivity option to safely shut down the server during extended power outages if needed.

I need a rather low-end UPS. I'm going to use it with a backup server I've built that uses about 40-60watts (idle-full load) and is almost always idling. What I want it to do is provide clean power (sine wave) to the computer, since at my friends house, for some reason the computer doesn't like it being sort of inconsistent (I don't know what it is, but I have some issues that, from my research has to do with the power not being a 100% all of the time). Therefore I'd like a ups that can clean it up and provide a battery backup if the power were to go out. Though I do not need for the computer to stay on once the power has gone out, so if the power does go out and the UPS detects this, I want it to, automatically, turn the computer off. It's really just to protect the data on the hdd's from potentially going corrupt if the power outage is during a file transfer.

  • So, the power usage of the computer is low, therefore I do not need a big battery.
  • I want it to give the computer better/cleaner power than it gets now.
  • And I want it to be able to connect via usb to the computer and be able to turn the computer off if the power goes out. (Also, if it matters, it needs to work in Sweden, here is some info on electricity and plugs used in Sweden)
  • Also, I want it to be rather cheap (although not so cheap the it becomes garbage)

I currently do not have a budget to go by, I kind of want to get a feeling for how much I will have to spend to get a decent ups that can do the above and see if it's even possible to me (meaning, what I'd consider acceptable for what I get). But again, the battery really doesn't have to be anything big, I just want certain features, as described above.

Thanks, I'll get it and see if it works like I hope it will.
