GTA V Vram problem

I am running dual 980's and I've run into a problem with the vram limit in gta V. It is pooling my 980s together and is setting the vram limit for 8 gigabytes. I have tried looking for a way to force it to 4 in a launch preference but I haven't been able to find it. Does anyone know how to fix this because I believe that this is why my game is crashing.
