I am having issues with my display and I cannot find anywhere to ask but here. My desktop is overlapping my screen and is hiding some icons slightly. Please help!

If the screen is just off to one side, and you're connected with VGA, use the auto-adjust option on your display's menu. If your screen is cut off on all four sides and you are using a TV, you need to go into your TV's settings and look for something like "scan settings" or "zoom", cycle through the options and hopefully one of them will display correctly, usually it's called "just scan" or "1:1" or something like that.
