Hey Guys! So, I am currently looking for and buying new computer hardware for a low budget gaming PC. I was wondering if you guys had any suggestions for CPUs. Would an AMD FX-8320 be a good one. And if yes, which one would be better. the 8320E (8 Core 3.2 GHz) for 140€ or the 8320 (8 Core 3.5 GHz) for 165€

Source for prices: http://hinta.fi/haku?q=AMD+FX+8320

What motherboard would you guys suggest? No Gigabyte motherboards please. I ordered a R7 360 OC from them and the fan broke like in a month so... I don't trust them. (I know it could have broken due to poor storaging and postal service but who cares)

And. Can I just rip the HDD off my old computer and have the Windows "pre-installed" Would I need any licenses or do I need to get a new one?

Could you then tell me which I5. I am not really good at this. They seem expensive tho.

If you want to play game the fx8320 get rekt by the i3/pen in gaming benchmark. I have some of my friend who believed me and got i5 and they have not regretted it but my other who either got 6300/8320 is having trouble because the cpu bottleneck on their cards. Personally that cpu is outdated and either grab a i5 which may seem expensive but will last you longer.

I've been doing alot of research around this topic as my "budget' PC I was forced to build has a FX6300@4.2ghz right now, but with my girlfriends budget friendly build coming up I'm doing for her, I've basically been researching the same question;

The AMD cpu's generally are not worth it, even if your into overclocking they only Excel at multithreaded tasks, which unfortunately is less then more of the tasks a normal person does.   If your gaming, you'll find many games will bottleneck with AMD cpu's, but generally never with Intel, due to the far superior single threaded processing power.

in Cinebench I can score about 480-485 ideally, which is about the same as a i5-4460, on my Overclocked 6 core (mind you also spending money now when talking about overclocking on aftermarket cooling, add another 50-60

a FX8350 or something similar is going to be about 20-30% faster then my FX6300, again without overclocking though its about as fast, if not a touch slower, specially in single threaded applications.

Long story short, in my user experience of the Fx6300, its been a extremely Stable processor, but many many times I've noticed slow downs or just, poor processing performance compared to when I had Sandybridge i7's@4.6ghz etc.  Unzipping something, just slow... really slow, installs, slow.  All because of that single threaded non-sense.

If I was to rebuild again, I would have defiantely went Intel, just to cut out the BS, sure in a multi-threaded load, in perfect scenario with it overclocked, Dollar for Dollar, AMD wins, but reality is its Never perfect scenarios, normal use of a computer largely requires snappy, fast, single threaded workloads.

____

TLDR, I can't personally find locally anymore a good reason to stay with the older generation haswell, unless your using parts to upgrade i.e have some DDR3 ram, etc.

I would personally recommend going for the i5-6500 Skylake, its significant performance bump over the i5-4460 about 10-15% Average, at a pretty small price increase, and not to mention significantly reduced thermals, at 65W, should be fairly quiet as well on Stock cooling, unlike the 4460 which can and will wind up pretty loud

Intel Core i5-6500 would be 216,90 € for me which is a big difference from the 140 € or  179,90 €. Well, I think I will go with Intel but now I have to decide between the i5-6500 and i5-4460. And also I need to decide which LGA1150 or LGA 1151 motherboard will I get. Also I still didn't get answer to my question about the HDD

The 4460 is a really good cpu for gaming. It should be adequate for quite some time. Honestly, its probably the cpu with the best overall performance (Multitasking +gaming) to price ratio. There is no way to go wrong with a i5-4460

Cpu:i5-4690k Gpu:r9 280x with some other things

With the HDD you can literally just take it out and plug it straight into the new computer and boot, but will likely need to install new drivers etc.

It would be recommended to do a fresh install to avoid conflicts when dealing with a entirely new system, but I'm sure theres guides out there if you google about uninstalling motherboard drivers in a new computer etc.

Ya with that price difference i5-4460 might be worth looking at over the other

I think the amd 8320 is a fine choice if you can buy it second hand for around 60% of the price in stores today. I would prefer a second hand combo of a 8320+mobo that can overclock the processor+memory+large cpu cooler. I think bang4buck this is one of the best options available at the moment if you pair with a descent gpu. Else i would by intel, never buy amd processor new in stores, waste of capital.
