I have a western digital caviar blue 1tb 7200rpm hdd. I have had it for a couple months now, but it's been making buzzing noises, I was just wondering if that was normal

Hard drives make all weird noises. It's normal and if no data has gone missing then you're fine.

Hey there RoanEngland :)

HDDs are mechanical units and as such it's normal to make noises and to produce vibrations (due to the moving/spinning parts in the drive).
The drive may also cause some resonance with the case or with the cables and thus produce more noise than normal so I'd check if it's mounted properly and solidly.
If you want to be on the safe side that the drive's health is good I'd make sure all the important data is backed up and I'd run WD Data Lifeguard Diagnostic tool in order to see if the drive passes both the quick and the extended tests. If it does the drive should be considered safe to use.
You can also check the raw values of the S.M.A.R.T. status with a third-party tool. Feel free to post them here if you are not sure how to read them. :)

Feel free to post back if you happen to have any questions!
