power supply help

i want to ask your opinion on upgrading my pc for gameing i have MSI Military class II H67MA-E45 mainboard,,intel core i5 3.10Ghz Socket LGA1155 Processor.8gb ram,500w (PSU) cooler master and the last 1 is MSI N560gtx-ti hawk 1 GB GDDR5 graphics card..i can play call of duty black ops 3 but its in low settings...i ask the pc shop what shud i upgrade and he say change graphics card to MSi VGA GTX970 4GB DDR5 256Bit GAMING 4G..so do i need to change (PSU) or 500w is good?or do i need more wattage?

500w should be okay for the gtx 970 if you aren't overclocking

500W will be fine for that build. Go with that recommendation.

ya i dont do overclocking coz i realy dont know much about system in my PC just want to play good quality games...thanx guys.

What's the model of this Cooler Master 500w? The Cooler Master eXtreme Power 500w? If so, I would suggest investing a new, quality power supply, as the mentioned CM is a poor, inefficiency, low-quality PSU that violated ATX specification before reaching 400wDC.

 

You are seeing a system that draws under 300wDC, as such, a good quality 500w would be more than plenty for such a system.

Then I would replaced it with something of better quality.

Can you provide a link to the store you can buy from so we can see what's available to you, and what's your budget for the PSU?

its in malaysia....i was thinking if my PSU not good for the GPU so i can take a high PSU mybe ugrade ather GPU more power in the future

Since your MSI H67MA‑E45 motherboard only has one PCIe slot, you aren't going to SLI / CFX. So unless you are going to used a dual GPU card like the R9 295x2, a quality 550w would be plenty for a single GPU card setup. So focus more on quality rather than just the wattage.

 

The Cooler Master V550 would be an great power supply for 365.70 MYR / 89.80 USD.
