New PC - Audio Hum

I'm getting some audio hum even when no sound is playing from my speakers. The more I turn up the volume the louder the hum gets. Any idea what's causing it?

 

I'm using the ASUS Z170i Pro Gaming motherboard and old Logitech X-230 Speaker System running Windows 10. The speakers didn't do this on my old PC. I believe the motherboard uses Realtek audio.

My guess is that it's a ground-loop caused by a short or lack of proper grounding on your new system.

Thanks, I think it's the old speaker system itself getting some electrical interference because it does it even while the system reboots. I'll try another outlet or something to pin it down. The speaker system is like 8 1/2 years old carried over from my previous PC.

Hey I fixed the speaker hum issue. I use an old Plantronics  speakers/headphones switch box and one of the jacks was half plugged in. I must have accidentally pulled on it while I was rearranging placement on my desk for the new PC. Now the speakers don't hum at any volume.
