fourth. the first number after i7 is the gen. That's how it works on all Intel processors

 

If I use words like probably or most likely, it is because I dislike certainty. These words can probably be omitted and the sentence read as a certainty.

not always. the i7 920 is 1st gen, and the 5820K is 4th gen.

I did not know that I was going by http://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/processors/processor-numbers.html.
