They can be a bit dangerous if tampered or damaged. Find your local recycling centre and ask if they can dispose or recycle lithium ion batteries. Just be careful with it as they can catch fire if punctured especially.

BE CAREFUL. It could literally randomly explode into a ball of fire at any moment especially if it started "hissing" upon physical damage. Just leave it there for a while and see what happens.

If you know what your doing a controlled burn over some bricks in your backyard is far safer method of disposal than transporting it around.

Hissing?! I would not use it and take it someplace to be recycled. Do not plug it into anything or turn it on

One day I will have my GTX 970. One day. PC specs are at my profile.

Not sure how to check what part works with what? Check out my compatibility guide!

so i droped a battery bank and busted it so me being curious opened it up and i started making this hissing noise i put it out on my drive way what should i do?

Sounds like you damaged the Li-po cells I would leave it there and let it vent or react, you should get rid of it to a proper battery disposal location.

Be careful even when transporting it in a car it can catch fire and total your car. You will need a fire proof container that is at least double layered with sand and NEVER seal it inside something that can build up pressure and this can make it explosive. Leaving it be outside far away from flammables/buildings/storm drains is far safer. Smash it up and encourage it to catch fire once it burns out completely it is safe.

I had some hissing batteries once I just barbecued them in a little rock pile and fuel cube thing. (Use proper PPE, burning waste can be illegal in many areas)

Also if you ever have a lithium battery fire sand is a very good method to extinguish the fire. The larger the battery the higher the risk and if it was fully charged it is slightly more energetic than a fully discharged battery.
