OBS video quality issues.

Fausto315

I have been having trouble with recording using OBS recently. I record in 1080p 60fps and whenever there is high motion, the video gets very grainy. I have tried messing with the setting and nothing seems to work. I tried to see if fraps recorded better, and I just got a black screen. Is there a way to fix the high motion scenes in OBS?

You got a 980, why not just use ShadowPlay?

3300 is barely enough to maintain high quality frames at 720p@60fps let alone 1080p.

ShadowPlay is really just click and go :P Open Geforce Experience, set your hotkeys, and that's it!

30Mbps (yes Mbps not Kbps like OBS) is a good place to start on ShadowPlay.

What version is your GeForce Experience? Cos they changed the UI recently.  I personally use 2.10.2.40 cos the new Beta ones started giving me problems a few days ago.

Did you click the ShadowPlay button at the top right? It should bring up a separate menu with an On/Off switch on the left.  Flip it.  Then back in the regular ShadowPlay settings, set where you want your FPS counter and Status Indicator on the monitor image on the right.  I personally like FPS on the right and indicator on left, both top side.  Go in-game, you should see the FPS counter pop up, then hit your record key and the indicator should change.

You managed to record?  What are you trying to view the video on? What player?  And did you stop the recording first?

So we good here? :D Enjoy the higher FPS cos your CPU isn't being taxed by OBS recording.
