HDD Free Space

Go to solution Solved by Atmos,

You can fill it completely, that's fine.

The thing that kills a drive is a lot of reads and writes over and over

I am just wondering how much space I should leave free on a storage only HDD. I am putting all my DVDs and BluRays on a 4TB external drive, it will only be accessed by Plex when I watch movies and rip new discs to it.  Can I fill the drive 100% or should I leave some % empty?  It is just a storage drive, no programs are running/installed on it.  I think I can fill it to 100% but would like confirmation on this.

Thanks
