My father's coming off of an old 5450 and is willing to spend about $100 on a GPU. He uses a single 1440p monitor for work and the most intense gaming he does is bejeweled, so he probably doesn't need anything, but I would like him to get the best performing card he can in case he gets into gaming after retirement or something. Amazon U.S. prices, please (we have prime and yes, I know how their GPU prices but still). Thoughts?

TL;DR

$100 USD GPU on Amazon (with prime) for non-gaming (basically good video out ports are the only feature that might matter to him that comes to mind).

Tip to those that are new on LTT forum- quote a post so that the person you are quoting gets a notification, otherwise they'll have no idea that you did. You can also use a tag such as @Ryoutarou97 (replace my username with anyone's. You should get a dropdown after you type the "@")to send a notification, but quoting is preferable.

Feel free to PM me about absolutely anything be it tech, math, literature, etc. I'll try my best to help. I'm currently looking for a cheap used build for around $25 to set up as a home server if anyone is selling.

If you are a native speaker please use proper English if you can. Punctuation, capitalization, and spelling are as important to making your message readable as proper night theme formatting is.

My build is fully operational, but won't be posted until after I get a GPU in it and the case arted up.

What?

I hate to say this, but are you a fucking idiot? The 5450 can't even keep up with a Sandy Bridge Pentium's integrated graphics, much less the R7 240. R7 240's about on par with the Iris Pro Graphics 5200.

Once again, I'm sorry for the brash language, but I seriously am baffled that this forum is so misinformed to think that the 5450 = R7 240. Once can barely view YouTube videos, the other one has no trouble with YouTube videos at 1080p60.

Stop changing your profile picture! I have no idea who you are for a week with each new one. I clicked show new post and I now have 2 different posts with 2 different profile pictures of you. BTW I'm that guy from PCPP.

Agreed, but what's the best thing you could get for $100? I want to get him something for his birthday that does the most it can so that he doesn't start playing League or something to pass time after retiring and have to buy a new one.

Wha- No, that is insufficient. Rather, I meant, "U WOT M8!?"

Didn't want to say this, but his birthday is coming up and I need to buy something and have $100 (not mine which is why I'm actually getting something decent) and don't have any other ideas.

kek, hi there :3

For $100, the best you could get? Probably an R7 360, or 750 Ti if you get lucky. What's the specs of the rest of his PC?

Alternate idea! A CPU cooler to quiet the thing down and I'll just have him use the iGPU. Thanks for the idea (it came from seeing the aftermarket cooler in that build though IDK why that build is linked here) @SansVarnic

Oh, alright. He's already got an i5 4690 (it came with a z97 board on a newegg bundle but I wasn't consulted so he got the locked version.) and all that jazz. I settled for a noctua cooler (NH-L9I), case fan (NF-F12 b/c it's so quiet and I might be able to take it later if I for a build), and a tube of AS5 which is also pretty much a self-gift. I rock at present buying.
