Gutting power bank for 9v?

Heyo!

I have a router and a raspberry pi I wanna power for various hours. Max usb power is 5v, router consumes 9v. Would gutting it, pulling out the wirez and sticking a regulator on them work?

I see no reason for it not to but I'm not too experienced with electronics.

Thx in advance.

I would suggest to just take the 5V out from the battery bank and have it go through a buck boost converter to bring it up to the required 9V:
