I have the Dell E228WFP 22-inch Widescreen LCD Monitor. It has "Digital DVI-D with HDCP connectors".

It is currently connected to a "GeForce 7300 LE".

I am building a new PC with "Gigabyte GA-F2A58M-S1 FM2+ AMD A58 (Bolton D2) Micro ATX AMD Motherboard" and "AMD A6-6400K".

The motherboard has "1 x D-Sub port".

Is it possible to use the monitor, the 7300 LE, and the APU at once to do light gaming on that monitor?

Thanks for helping!

umm no? i really dont get waht your asking

but you can only use the monitor to display one system at a time. but if you have enough inputs you just have the change to source.

but i think if yu mean use the APU and the GPU in the same system but spratly no you can't. i think once yu put in a GPU it disables the APU graphics.

but if you had 2 GPU's you can have 1 GPU be gaming and use the other GPU for anything else at the same time. but you'd need more than one monitor to see them. unless you have a moniter that allows you to do 2 displays at once but then it looks weird and wouldn't be pleasant to game

like that

please correct me if i answered nothing that you asked and ill fix it

Even I seem confused by my question. Let me make it simpler. How do I connect that monitor to my APU? Thanks for the reply!

if you want it just to the APU. you will need to have no GPU in your pc then plug in the monitors input im guessing yours is DVI-D into the motherboard of the computer.

but i think if you have a GPU like a dedicated GPU it will make the APU graphics not work. im not 100% positive tho

you would connect through the motherboard port, but you cannot use the gpu and apu at teh same time. Also the mobo has a d-sub(the blue vga connector) so you would need an adapter to use it.

So I need a D-sub to DVI-D adapter?

Can I use the motherboard's port for the monitor and the 7300LE for a dedicated Physx card?

no, you would need another nvidia card to run as your main gpu. i dont believe apus will work

Which part is male and female? Also, is there anything that 7300LE can be used for?

It should be vga male, dvi female. the 7300le is too old to use for anything i can think of; its surpassed by even integrated graphics at this point.

DVI-D is specifically the version of DVI that does not support VGA adapters. The monitor has both a DVI and a VGA input. If your motherboard only supports VGA, your only option is a straight VGA to VGA cable, nothing fancy.

Thank you so much! I understand everything now, I just need a VGA to VGA cable. Well, that is if D-sub is another word for VGA...

VGA is the electrical signal format, D-Sub is the physical connector type, but in general the terms are used interchangeably.
