Google search order

This is actually a question from my dad.. Anyhow my dad is running a furniture store in Phuket Thailand, and is currently and for the past several months experiencing, that small furniture stores in the same area tops in the Google search.. He has already applied the different tag key words, but still he's far behind, like 2-4 pages. Is there anyway to move further up the search list in google? By applying various settings, and have any of you experienced a situation alike?

From what i know, google order results counting links from other pages to your dad's page, as well as paid advertisement.

Try looking for google results boost or something like that.

this is the algorithm employed by google, basically

-the more links you have from other sites to your site the higher the rating of your site

-but each link also has a value, the higher the rating of the linking site the higher value the link

 

So a link from a large site like this one is worth more than one from some random site about white coffee mugs...

 

BUT and this is a big one, to artificially try to improve your sites ranking by spamming links all over the internet is not a good idea.

Have you checked adwords? 

I'm not sure if that's the right track, but I'm pretty sure you could pay to boost your exposure
