After having built my first ever PC and hooking everything up, I've just realised I'd connected my DisplayPort cable to the motherboard rather than my gpu. I went to fix it and realised there's no DisplayPort on my gpu. Feeling like an idiot right about now.

My Asus GeForce gtx 750 ti has two Dvi D ports, and my LG 34um95 has DisplayPort. After doing some research, it seems you can't output from a Dvi D gpu to a monitor DisplayPort input (without an expensive converter) ?

Is that accurate? And if there is a converter available could someone point me in the right direction?

hasn't your display an HDMI input? your 750ti seems to have an hdmi output https://www.asus.com/de/Graphics-Cards/GTX750TIOC2GD5/ so that'll work

EDIT: I know that you're not getting 60HZ that way, but your GPU will most likely offer you not even that frame rate in games at that res and for desktop, 30Hz are fine

EDIT2: bandwith stacks as following: VGA < DVI =< HDMI < DP which explains why you can't convert it

Yes it does. I do have the monitor connected by hdmi at the moment but seeing as the monitor is capable of 3440 by 1440 and hdmi is limited to 1080p... I'm not too happy

HDMI is limited to UHD 30Hz AFAIK. you are able to get higher resolutions but not in full 60Hz

I guess it's time for a new GPU... at least a 950, but for enjoyable gameplay you'll need at least a 380
