I want to buy a gaming laptop for a maximum budget of 1550 GBP. I want to invest this money in something i can use for at least 6 years. Currently i have my mind set upon the new Alienware  with 17 inch display.

I want to upgrade from 15.6 inch to 17 at least. I am also fascinated by the Alienware Graphics Amplifier and would like to ask you guys if there is a way to use it with a different brand laptop. I also wanted to know if you know any laptops that would be released in the next 3 months with the Nvidia 980 (desktop edition) because the current ones are super expensive :)

The Alienware graphics amplifier is proprietary. If you want graphics amplification, the Razer Blade stealth is the newest thing for that. It's a super nice ultrabook, 1440p screen, a dual core i7, and the Razer Core only uses Thunderbolt 3 instead of a proprietary connector, so I will work with other laptops with developer support on their part.

Also remember that when buying a 17inch laptop, it is absolutely massive. I have a 17inch MSI laptop, and that thing is absolutely heavy, and takes up so much space on a desk and anywhere else. It's thin, but the weight, and general surface area is crazy. I prefer 15.6 inch or smaller laptops, but my 17 is a beast gaming machine.

MSI GE72 Apache Pro-242 - (5700HQ : 970M : 16gb RAM : 17.3" : Win10 : 1TB HDD : Razer Anansi : Some mouse) - hooked up to a 34UM58-P (WFHD) in dual screen

iPad Air 2 (for school)

iPhone 6

Xbox One Forza 6 Limited Edition Blue

I find it hard to recommend large laptops I have my 18.4" alienware but im selling it because its just too big

id rather have a 13" for portability and connect to a monitor ( maybe even an external GPU)  when at home

the graphics amplifer is specific to alienware

there are some thunderbolt 3 GPU amps coming out that will work universally (or should) so it might be worth waiting

I don`t really care about the weight and size i just want something that will be of use for the period i have mentioned above. I also have concerns about the 980M Video card that is why i want to know if any of you guys know something about the release of newer Laptop Video cards. The MSI laptops are not available in my region... I am from Bulgaria
