Hey guys,

I think I may have a problem with my GPU,

Everytime I start a GPU intense application my PC black screens but every else still runs in the backround. My temps are about 60 Degrees on the GPU and 90 on the VRMs

I've tried re-installing my GPU and I'm going to swap PCI-E slots now. I started having this problem since last week.

What has really got me confused is that every time it crashes it's extremely consistent, everything I start up FurMark at 1280x768 or what ever the default is, it crashes exactly 55 seconds in...

(Sig. Specs are wrong only running 1 GPU ATM)

First did you reinstall the driver? I know you said "I've tried re-installing my GPU" not sure if you mean physically or virtually such as the driver. If not then go into safe mode uninstall and reinstall the driver.

If that doesn't work try reflashing the bios on the GPU.

Both, I'm going to put flashing g the BIOS at the end of my troubleshooting list.

As in clearing the CMOS? Yes, multiple times.

Any recent application you have installed? A program could be affecting the PC as well. Try running a window corruption scan, go to CMD (Run as Admin) then type sfc /scannow

I've been running a different r9 290 for a while now and that works but this one doesn't.

Oh shoot. It's a AMD. I'm unsure how to do it but. If it's the one GPU I can recommend that you flash the bios on the card with a fresh copy. So that you know that it still has it factory presets and that a Application hasn't messed with it.

Is it water or air cooled?

is this a new gpu? are you switching from one brand to another i.e. nVidia to AMD or vice-versa?

run CCleaner to clean up the old drivers if so.

Never had a nvidia card in the PC before

Air cooled, from a RMA. I'll try flashing after I try somethings

Are you using the 1300w antec thats in your stats? I had a 290x crossfire and was hitting my powerlimit which would cause some wierd stuff to happen.

No a, 850w, should really fix that. But this is happening even with only the one card inside

Sorry I didn't respond. I had the craziest of things with my Nvidia but AMD is not my thing. If its a RMA card I bet you it was someone elses problem... Meaning its factory refurbished.
