3D Animation build

KyruN

Hi all!
I'm about to purchase a new computer as my 8 year old one is really not up to par lately.
I'm an animator so I spend most of my time animating in viewport 2.0 in Autodesk Maya (when I'm not gaming 9_9). I also have to render my own work and it's usually complex scenes and the renders take a really long time leaving me computerless for a few days. I also have to use premiere/AE and render that video as well.
I'm not a computer savvy so I was wondering if anyone could give me some expert advice as to what to look for when buying the parts.

My budget for this build is around 2000€ ($2200) but obviously if it goes over a couple hundred for a super duper speed I'm in! Oh and I also don't need monitors, SSD, HDD, keyboards, mouse, software, etc. as I'll be using the ones that I already have.

GPU
I was looking at autodesk's website where they have a certified list of GPU's and I saw a bunch of QUADRO's and TITAN's
https://knowledge.autodesk.com/sites/default/files/HardwareCertification_MayaResults_2016_EXT1.pdf
I also stumbled upon this video which I wasn't sure if this new technology only works with QUADRO GPU's as I tested on my machine and I didn't see any improvements:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZKiYY9YsDVc

I guess the QUADRO's are meant to deal with viewport playback, tumbling and interacting but not so great for rendering and gaming, that would be great on a TITAN or something? Or am completely wrong here?
What would you recommend for my situation?

CPU
Regarding the CPU, I'm also a little bit confused as I know maya used to work single-threaded so less cores would be ideal as each core would be faster, but as I'm rendering with Arnold and it's a CPU based renderer (considering using Vray RT) it could use a lot of cores to render my scenes faster. So a choice between a 6 core and 8 core what would you recommend?

Thank you all in advance!

Least on the PC part picker your GPU choices are the K2200 or W5100, least for mid range stuff
both around 500 euros

Benchmarks are a pain in the ass to find, but the main difference is probably the display outputs, with the Firepro having 4 display port outputs, and the quadro having 2 DP, and DVI-i

I edit my posts a lot, Twitter is @LordStreetguru just don't ask PC questions there mostly...

Spoiler

What is your budget/country for your new PC?

what monitor resolution/refresh rate?

What games or other software do you need to run?

Thank you for the quick reply!

Regarding your build it looks really good, but I noticed it's a bit under my budget by at least 500€.

Do you think upgrading the GPU to a higher-end one would be beneficial? I'm looking at the GTX 980Ti that looks almost the same as a Titan but with less memory and it's just slightly more expensive (about 200€) than the K2200.

Also, I noticed there's a CPU 5930k that's about 150€ more expensive, is it worth it?

http://de.pcpartpicker.com/p/g3b9sY (it's exactly 2000€ lol)

Thank you again! ;)

a 980ti isn't a workstation GPU, so it doesn't have the optimized drivers, nor added software support. but if you're going to be gaming then you'd probably want a 980(non ti) or a Fury card, as if your displays are 1080p a 980ti is wasted there.

and I guess depending on how you use it, it might even be worth getting a 390 or 390x, as they come with 8GBs of VRAM

also what's your display set up? aside from getting a bunch of SSD storage you could probably fit a 4k display into the budget, though I don't know of your 40" 4k korean display availability.

the 5930K just adds more PCI-e lanes

Gotcha!

That was actually a good question. I have a new SSD running my OS and programs, and a couple HDD just for storage. My monitors are 1200p but I guess I could sell them and get a better deal. I have two 24" monitors as I need that real estate to work. I was looking around and found the a widescreen monitor that has the real estate that I need and it's only one monitor so no bezels in between, is it worth it?

http://www.mindfactory.de/product_info.php/34Zoll--86-36cm--Dell-UltraSharp-U3415W-schwarz-silber-3440x1440-1x-HDMI-_983966.html

If I get 4k monitors I would need two of them and that would be pretty much the same price or even more as this one I guess?

Thanks!

You just need a 40" 4k display, it would replace your current set up, and give you additional vertical pixels, basically double what you have now, the 21:9 1440p displays generally aren't worth it, because you get more pixels for less money with 4k.

although the 40" 4k displays aren't going to have 100% adobe RGB, probably doesn't matter for your work though

this would be probably the best one, as it has free-sync as well as 1080p 120Hz for gaming, also usually costs the most, Tek Syndicate has reviewed a lot of the 40" 4k korean displays

and then this would be the 390X to get, it comes liquid cooled, possibly the best card overall given it's VRAM outside of the titan naturally, of course the workstation GPUs are going to be the best choice if you can find something like a W7100
