Hi I wanted to overclock my R9 380 4GB GPU. But when I change the Core clock to 1350MHz I don't think it actually goes to that even though I have changed he core voltage and also memory. It shows up as just 1000MHz on the MSI monitor. Does this mean it is not overclocking properly. Thanks

try running the heaven benchmark since that tells you the core clock of the card and tests if it is stable, you might have a bugged msi monitor

Oh I have been using that, It says 1000MHz still but shows me that the Memory has changed which I did. Thanks

Put the power limit to max, see if it makes a differanse

1350mhz?

Isn't that REALLY high?

i got 1200mhz on my 390 and I've heard that's pretty good

try setting it to 1100 and see if it will get any better

Oh and I don't know as this is my first gaming rig I have made. Thanks for informing me.

That's because the clock is too high, meaning the benchmark will crash.

put it to 1100 core clock and max power limit

I got it to work on 1100 thanks. Do you think I could overclock the vram now also how much wattage would this use now. Thanks

You should try pushing the core clock first, within temps you are comfortable with. (Small steps, don't rush)

Lets say you have 1100 stable, try 1125 if that's not stable bumb the voltage up more and go from there until you have found either temperature limit or voltage limit.

When you have found your max stable core clock, you can try pushing the memory, but it will only give marginal gains.

Oh okay would you say the temps in the 60c is okay for gaming as if it was 75c or more I would get worried. Thanks

Also what is the difference between core voltage and power limit. Should power limit always be the highest ?

Well, you should check up the product page and there will probably be recommended max temp.

you should be fine with anything below 85degrees

my gpu is running at 80 ~ 85 when overclocked.

Yes put the power limit to max.

core voltage is the "juice"  that the gpu is getting, the more juice the more heat and coreclock

While the power limit is basically what it says, it limits the power the gpu can get. But I wouldn't worry about that, put it to max and watch out for the temps.
