Hello, first I will post my Current Build:

  • CPU: Intel i5 - 4690k 3.5GHz
  • CPU Cooler: Stock cooler (Yeah I know I suck)
  • GPU: Nvidia Gtx 760
  • PSU: 600 watts 80+ certified
  • Mobo: MSI Z97 Gaming 5 LGA1150
  • RAM: Corsair Vengeance 8GB 1600Mhz
  • SSD + HD: Kingston 120GB / 1.5TB
  • Case: NZXT h440

My desire goals are to get a new CPU then eventually get a new GPU (and yeah I know get a aftermarket CPU cooler). My current desire is to Live stream, so I am thinking of getting a new CPU, the i7 - 4790k, I can stream but the quality isn't the greatest. And after that I would like to get the Asus r9 390x. I want a higher end GPU, but I don't want to break the bank to get a GTX 980.

" If anyone is good at OBS settings and streaming to twitch.tv please message me I would like to know more about encoding and etc. ,,

I'd get a higher psu first, 1) gold standard and 2)allow for higher powered cards/cpus. But I'd wait for the new cards to drop before you upgrade, even if you don't go with a new card the prices of the current cards will drop. But your cpu is good for the time, so the gpu could be upgraded first without any bottle neck.

Okay, thank you for the input. My only worry is that I want to live stream and I was talking some some streamers  and they were saying I can Live stream with the i5 4690k but I won't get the best quality and it will suffer because the load of gaming / encoding and everything.

that times a thousand, if you wish to expend you horizons to streaming you'll absolutly need a better PSU. 750W min.

Okay sounds good! I got a nice bonus from my work and I wanted to get either:

  1. New PSU
  2. More SSD
  3. CPU Cooler

But if you guys think a new PSU is best option I will go for that before the CPU. I really want a new CPU to handle the stress and loads of streaming and etc. I think the GPU will be fine. And I can always OC it a bit if I get a new PSU as well :). Thoughts?

If it's for streaming purposes then yeah a CPU over a GPU anytime, but otherwise if you've got some plans for the future a better PSU gives you more room for expansion. That's how I see it, do, take my advice as you wish. That CPU still is pretty good do, so just make sure it really is the CPU bottlenecking your streams and then you'll invest in something that you 100% need.

No I really appreciate you and everyone's opinions and I want to learn more so I don't make the wrong purchases and not really improve my computer. And plus I hate my non-modular PSU. I will for sure look into getting a really good PSU and perhaps getting the CPU over the GPU.

Ohohoho modular PSU, you choosed fairly, cable management and pure estetics (which, I'll admit, are one of my mains concerns when looking at a PC)wise you'll just never go back
