notebook HDD into new computer

Go to solution Solved by Tosa,

I'll work, sure, but it has lower RPM compared to a 3.5" HDD and thus lower performance. It's, abviously, also smaller, so you'll have a challenge attaching it inside your case. You'll need to attach it with at least three screws not to risk destroying it due to vibrations.

Ok thx ^^

I did not planned to use it. I just want to get the data back ^^

thx a lot

so just using it to transfer data, you should be fine as long as the connectors match up just try not to have it at an angle as that could hurt your drive

You know how it is, the cow goes "moo", the dog goes "woof" and the gamer goes "The PvP is unbalanced."

Hey Ginka,

You can use any drive to any port as long as they use the same bus. SATA I, II and III are all backward and forward compatible and should work perfectly fine. Your only concern should be the file format and if the two OSs can read the same file format (NTFS, FAT32, HFS+, etc.). :)

If you are going to reuse that drive I'd check its health and see if it poses any danger for the future data you will be storing on it.
