getting a different CPU costs so much money tho lol..  What one would you recommend?

And I'd like to keep the quality somewhat high...

A xeon e3 1231 v3 would make a huge difference for around the cost of a 4690k. Your only other option is to lower the cpu profile as mentioned before

Hey,

So yesterday I was streaming some MarioKart 8, with my New Elgato HD60.  So far I like the capture card, but I was having an issue when streaming.

XSplit first warned me, but then I checked MSI Afterburner and my CPU usage was extremely high.  The quality of the stream also went down severely during races.  Main menu's were fine when the CPU usage was down.

I have an Intel Core i5-4670 and a GTX 660

This is what I had going running on 2 monitors)

-XSplit Broadcaster (streaming @720p)

-Streaming to XSplit from the Elgato HD60

-Twitch Chat & Stream in Dashboard

-MSI Afterburner

-Microsoft's new music player - 'Groove'

-2 File Explorer windows

Any ideas on how to lower this usage?  Lowering it would improve the quality of my stream greatly.

Thanks!

Besides close some things? Get a different cpu. I5s aren´t optimal for streaming.

Umm lower your cpu profile to fast or fastest in xsplit. It will lower the quality of the stream but will make your cpu last longer and not be at 100% usage
