hey guys just a quick questions why there are a 60hz, 120hz, 144hz, and more. refresh rate for the monitors? while our eye can see a 60hz refresh rate or 60fps?
and about the resolutions for each monitors some 1080 display, some 1440p, and more. why do you need a resolution for monitors if you can already get a resolution from your gpu? can they mix? a resolution provided by your pc and your monitor? and some techie guy (not from LTT) from youtube said if your playing above 1440p settings do not get an 60hz monitor he said get some 144hz monitor. 1080p  settings for 60hz.

NEED HELP HERE KINDA CONFUSED ABOUT DISPLAY THING.

Simple, whoever told you you can't see over 60fps is wrong. With framerates at 120fps or 144fps motion is noticeably smoother.

The resolution of your monitor is the physical resolution of the image you see when you look at your monitor. Your GPU can send an image with a different resolution, but it will be remapped to the monitor's resolution in order to be displayed on that monitor.

Resolution and refresh frequency are separate. 144Hz results in smoother motion, whether you're on a 1080p or 1440p monitor. 1440p resolution provides better clarity and less pixelation than a 1080p monitor, whether it's a 60Hz or a 144Hz monitor. The benefits of resolution and refresh frequency are totally separate, you can have one or the other, or both.

You can definitely tell the difference between 60 and 120/144

120 and 144hz monitors are great for games like CSGO where twitch aiming is really important but the majority of the time they use panels with poor color reproduction. This makes them almost useless for content creation and for people who like to watch movies and are worried about the colors.

You could drop $1300+ on something like the X34 which I believe uses a better panel and is at 144hz.

You can mix 60/120/144hz panels just fine but keep in mind if you are running surround they will run at the lowest common refresh rate.

Ok, so your eye cannot see fps or hz...that's not how our eye works. Your brain puts quickly following images together and fools itself into believing it was a motion. The more hz/fps you see, the smoother the motion usually is. Though the higher you get, the lesser the noticable effect will be. 144hz is definitely noticably better than 60, but anything above 144hz is hard to distinguish for most people from 144hz in smoothness.

Resolution is connected to your GPU AND your monitor. Your GPU has to render an image, whereas the monitor displays it. Usually you want to try and get them both aligned, as this gives you the best image quality on your monitor, an exception to this is down-scaling. More on that later.
So if you get a 1440p monitor, your GPU can render the image at 1440p and you can actually see the pixels. If you have a 1080 screen and render 1440, you will still only see 1080. Your GPU can't magically make more pixels appear on screen. The higher the actual pixels on screen, the better the image quality....or better the sharper the image, ALTHOUGH your GPU has to be capable of delivering the image to the display and still keep up desirable framerates.
Which brings us back to those hz/fps. Get what you feel comfortable with and what you need. Are you playing competetively? Get 1440hz and then whatever resolution your GPU can maintain that high refresh-rate at. 1440p at 140hz needs a beast of a system to run, though for counter strike a simpler GPU can achieve that as well.

Last thing about the down-scaing. You pointed out that the GPU makes the image and yes you can render more pixels than can be displayed on your screen. That can lead to better image quality and dismiss the need for AA, as you are basically rendering at such a high resolution that AA would not be visible or at least less noticable on screen.

so guys what do you think I should get, 1080p w/ 144hz or 1440p w/ 60hz monitor? I have a GPU that already running my Star Wars Ultra settings with a 1440p display, fps never drop to 60 its fixed to 65-80fps.

Since you play Battlefront you'll want the 1080@144 for the faster response times.
