Worth reverting to OS X Mavericks?

Hi.

My main laptop is a 2010 MacBook A1342 which I use for school. It is absolutely HORRIBLE for gaming. I am a gamer and therefore like to be able to play my games on the go. You can check out the games I play here. steamcommunity.com/id/AlphaGamer46

I currently use a 120GB SSD with 40GB for OS X El Capitan and the rest for Windows 10.

I want to abandon dual-booting because it is a real pain when I am at school and I need to go into OS X but I'm in Windows 10.

I have an OS X Mavericks installer that I am ready to use and I am going to test it as I have a hard drive with it installed. I will also install my games and see how I like it.

I would LOVE your thoughts on this as I am still a bit unsure.

Thanks, Alpha.

Install parallels and use coherence mode, you can stay in the OSX environment and launch windows programs without seeing windows, and it works with expose/mission control etc etc

I would but my laptop runs slow just on OS X as is, without adding Windows inside OS X.

I will do some testing over the next week or so and work out if it's better.

The OS before I upgraded the RAM to 4GB was slow. Now it runs much better.

It still doesn't run games as good as it did when I ran Mavericks. It was smooth on Mavericks (probably because the OS didn't use many system resources) but they just run terribly on El Capitan unless I ran them on Windows.

I have a Time Machine backup of El Capitan that I can restore from if Mavericks doesn't run well.

Thanks, Alpha.

revert back your max OS. I have a 2009 MBP with Snow Leopard and it still "works" mostly. But I upgraded it one day to Maverick and it was MISERABLE.

I also have a 2011 MBA running Snow Leopard and works very well still, mostly.

If you want to game on the go, you should change the entire computer, not revert the OS. I can't see the issues you can possibly have if you're running an SSD and at least 8 GB of RAM.

I just wanted a machine to play some light games on with friends but I don't want to carry 2 laptops around.

I am going to keep El Capitan on for the simple fact that it will be too much of a pain to revert to Mavericks. I like the new interface on El Capitan and all of the new features. As far as I'm concerned, the 2010 MacBook with a RAM and SSD upgrade is a really good machine. Mine's only got 4GB RAM but it's fine for me. I have no intention of upgrading it.

Oh, and one more time, thanks to everyone with your suggestions.
