Dell Studio 1555 Optical Drive Necessary?

Go to solution Solved by GuyNamedBrad,

Hey actually you can drop the optical drive and add another hard drive in its place if you want, just look around for some of these: http://www.amazon.ca/Generic-Hard-Drive-Caddy-Studio/dp/B00F6K8YQQ/ref=sr_1_sc_2?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1456865022&sr=1-2-spell&keywords=dell+studio+1555+harddrive+caddy

Hi,

i am new in this forum, though following the Youtube Channel quite a while.

Currently i changed the CPU in my Dell Studio 1555 (2009) cause it often ran at 90%/100% and it was very cheap on ebay out of china.

Now i am looking at my optical drive (broken for several years & never needed it) and thinking about leaving it out when i reassemble my laptop. Will be there any booting issue leaving it out? My first thought is "No" but i never changed hardware in a laptop before, exspecially in a system i did not build myself and do not know what kind of problems can appear.

So does anybode can help me out? I am planning to reassemble it tomorrow.

Thanks for your help!

Uhhh, nice. Did not think about that.

So what about this one?

http://www.ebay.de/itm/2nd-Hard-Drive-HDD-SSD-Caddy-for-Dell-Studio-1535-1536-1537-1555-1557-1558-1559-/221856028860?hash=item33a7a658bc:g:ZtQAAOSwLVZV0Lhc

(damn these chinese have cheap deals on ebay.. they even add an screwdriver..)

So i could throw in my old hdd which i swapped with an SSD a year ago.

Yeah that would definitely work more or less just depends on what you want to go with ssd or hdd I would go ssd (just faster in general).

Okay, thanks for your help.

I will order it and propably take my old hdd into it cause atm i only use the laptop for browsing and office stuff.

It is not the greatest machine but with some cheap upgrades (small SSD, T9600 CPU and 4 GB Ram) it still runs totally fine for me.
