the i5 3570k is still a really good cpu and if overclocked it could beat itel skylake processors(non K)

It is overclocked to 4.2 on water right now. I could push it farther but to be honest I just want the extra cores for video editing and rendering. Since the 3570k doesn't have hyperthreading it is kind of a bottleneck right now.

I'm not really looking into getting another i5 and I already have a Corsair H110i GTX so I'm good with cooling. If you can find something for the same price like a X79 build that would be greatly appreciated!

I would still need ram so could you find anything at a lower price like x79 and then I wouldn't have to get any new ram

Why would you need new ram? You're using DDR3 now

because I want 6 cores

But do you need it? It'll be hard finding an x79 motherboard, then hard finding a CPU for it, so it'll probably cost as much or more than just upgrading to a newer platform. Why not just get an upgrade now?

I've already found a 3930k that is in my price range and I've been looking around for motherboards too. I do need the extra cores that X79 offers because of what I'll be using it for.

Looking at this and the fact X79 is gonna be hard to find, I would just go 4790k or save a little and go X99
