Enable xmp, oc failed, help

Go to solution Solved by NumLock21,

Just remembered a few days ago I took out my ram so I can change the fans on my 212 Evo. Probably didn't have the ram seated properly. So I took it out, clean out the slots with a dust blower, and reinstalled it. XMP is now working again.

I have a xeon 1650 v3 and gskill trident z ram at 3000mhz. When i enable xmp in the bios and save it. My system would freeze or windows won't load. When i reboot, it will say oc failed. Xmp was working when i just got my cpu a few months back. Could i have damage my cpu by oc too much?

Intels Xeon CPUs have very weak memory controllers. It is likely the memory controller just can't deal with the high-frequency memory. You will just have to run the memory at ~2400mhz.

I was able to run it.

This cpu is basically a 5930K with ecc support.

what is your motherboard?

did you clear cmos?

Your mobo probably has a clear cmos button or jumper switch use that to clear your cmos and every thing in the bios will be set to default.

I have asus x99 deluxe.

Did all of that. Doesn't help. :(

*tinfoil hat* intel send a microcode update only to my pc and zap my cpu? lol
