So I got my new motherboard, cpu, cooler and case in and upgraded my rig today and decided to overclock my CPU (i7 4790k) to 4.7GHz.

Now I'm not entirely sure if it is actually overclocked or not or if I even did it right in the BIOS. When I run Cinebench it still says the processor is the 4790k @ 4.0ghz but aida64 says it's at 4.7ghz.

In my BIOS I set my voltage to 1.35 just to make sure it would stay stable (not sure if right here or not) and put my frequency at 47 so that it would be at 4.7ghz.

Here are some screenshots

Any and all advice and help is granted and wanted :)

That's not an uncommon thing to see on Cinebench where it doesn't change the rated speeds, but one thing I see is your running at 1.368V and staying fairly cool what cooling solution are you using currently?

I would try to start dropping the voltage down to optimized the voltage require for the overclock also.

I'm using the Corsair H110i GTX liquid cooler.

So from your view it all looks right and I should just go on with my aida stress test?

Yea going with the CPU-ID on Adia 64 is usually the best option, from the looks of things everything seems good.

WOOOOOOOO! I wasn't too retarded to do it after all lol.

The reason I put my voltage at 1.35 is because I saw someone else here on the forums overclocking the same cpu and they had to keep it at that to use 4.7ghz.

Try pushing the multiplier up more and doing a quick stress test (10-20 mins) to see how high you can get it or optimize it, just keep an eye on temps to keep them below 85C. Every CPU is different so some may overclock higher than others at different voltages.

Really late reply, but I pushed it up to 4.9GHz and am currently stress testing it (will probably let it run over night) but here are the initial screenshots of aida64 and cpuid.

Edit: I didn't run any benchmarks after the initial overlcocking of 4.7 besides Cinebench so after this (if it makes it overnight) I'll run cinebench again and then 3D Mark and Unigine Heavan and Valley.

I want to try overclocking my gpu but everytime I've tired that it's gone horribly wrong.
