Put the multiplier to like 44 and then set the cpu core voltage to 1.3v and you should be all set.

Hey, I am wondering will 4ghz be a sturdy overclock for a 3.5ghz 4690k with air cooling

Depends on the cooler. What are you planning on using?

I enjoy buying junk and sinking more money than it's worth into it to make it less junk.

Are you kidding me. 1.3 is complete overkill for 4.4. 1.2 should be the average voltage required. And depending on the cooler, 1.3 might make the chip run too hot.

My rig:
CPU: i5 4690k 24/7 @4.4ghz (1.165v) Max 4.7ghz (1.325v) COOLER: NZXT Kraken X61 MOBO: Asus Z97-A   RAM: 16GB Crucial Ballistix Tactical   GPU: EVGA GTX 970 SSC   PSU: EVGA GS 650W   CASE: NZXT Phantom 530 HDD: WD Caviar Blue 1TB + WD Black 2TB

The numbers I gave are a definite safe point- it will certainly run a bit hotter than 1.2v (although not much), but if the chip isn't very good it may have a difficult time pulling off 4.4Ghz at 1.2v.

So putting way too much voltage through the chip is preferable? 1.2 is average, yes it might not pass a stress test, that's when you bump it up a bit. And without knowing what the cooler is, recommending a high voltage like that is a bad idea. Depending on the ambient temps, a 212 evo will run dangerously close to overheating with that kinda voltage
