Relevant System Info:

Asus VG248QE - This is a 144hz Monitor and that's what I run.

Dell 23" IPS Panel

EVGA GTX 980Ti

850W Corsair RM

--------------------------------------

Problem:

Went to bed everything was okay, woke up and my monitor looked like the picture.

I'm using the Display Port ( if that matters )

Things I've done:

Changed from Display Port to DVI ( result black screen )

Changed back to original setup ( Display Port on Asus Monitor - DVI on Dell )

Restarted PC - Issue resolved

---------------------------------

I've been building my own PC's since I was 13, I am now 32. I've seen a lot, but I've honestly never seen this.

I was thinking a driver crash, but I've never seen a driver crash do this.

I'm new to Display Port ( just started using it 2 weeks ago ) so I thought maybe that was the problem, no clue.

PC has been working fine since I started using the Display Port until this. No other known issues.

If you need any more info, ask and I'll give you what I can.

Like it says, a restart fixed the issue, but I'm trying to find out what caused it and why so that I can hopefully not have the problem again.

Nobody knows?

Looks like what my screen does when I OC the refresh rate by 1 or 2 Hz too much. As to why it happened, who knows. My guess is that it was a strange one-time thing and probably isn't likely to happen again.
