I sorta get the circuit diagram works, but idek how to make sense of this from an I/O perspective. Which plugs into which? Also syntax examples of reading pins in C using a Teensy 3.1 helps a lot.

Vout is the only one you care about (coming out of the not gate). If Vout is 1 the switch is depressed, else the switch is "doesn't care".
